Winter Learning Journey-week 1 day 1

Day 1- 100% pure New Zealand
Well, the time has now come! School’s out for the holidays and your tour of New Zealand is about to begin. I hope that you are ready and excited! Curious Kiwi certainly is – he can’t wait to start the Great Kiwi Road Trip! Before you all hit the road, let’s take a minute to review some key facts about New Zealand.

Activity 1:

Go to the Tourism New Zealand website and click on the ‘Facts - New Zealand People’ tab. Read about the people of New Zealand and then choose three interesting facts to post on your blog. The facts must be written in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste the facts from the website:

1.Over four hundreds years ago when the European people worried about falling off the edge of the world, the Maori people voyaged across the vast unknown pacific ocean.

2.Visitors come to New Zealand because the kiwis have developed beautiful naturally outdoors.

3.Rugby is the most popular sport in New Zealand, with the All Blacks winning the World Cup.

Activity 2:
Your tour of New Zealand is going to start right here in Auckland. Watch the Tourist video for Auckland to learn about the awesome things that you can see and do in the city. Once you’ve finished, choose your favorite five activities from the video and list them on your blog.

  1. The park in Auckland Domain.
  2. The Auckland memorial.
  3. The culture.
  4. Breakfast at Elliot Stables.
  5. Modem malls.
Bonus activity:

This is my flag that I have designed I designed this flag because I think that it will match New Zealand. The heart represents the love of New Zealand and the stars represents the Matariki sisters.

  1. Kia ora Angelina and welcome to the Winter Learning Journey programme. We are thrilled that you have joined us this holiday!

I am particularly excited to see that you have already completed three activities. Wow! Good on you!

The flag that you designed is really nice. I love the thought that you put into it. Given that it is Matariki season right now, it's a great idea to incorporate the seven sisters into your flag design. My son, Aronui, was actually born during Matariki and we always celebrate this birthday and the new year at the same time. It's a really fun event!

I hope that you're able to continue with the learning journey this holiday. There are six more days of activities and one of the six is dedicated to the celebration of Matariki (Day #6).

I hope to see you online blogging again soon!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)
